Often, we look at ourselves in the mirror and wonder what it might take to shed some flab off our stomach's and get that perfect flat stomach. Almost two-thirds of American's are obese, now is that telling you something? It's time to do something about that belly! But how does that belly start? And what are some techniques to sever those pounds and get a flat stomach? Well, you've come to the right place.

Stomach or belly fat is caused, scientifically, by high blood insulin level. Insulin reacts with certain parts of the body to develop those extra pounds. Having a lot of insulin in your blood generally means that your blood sugar level has taken a beating from your diet and in turn, the pancreas has secreted insulin into your blood stream to turn that sugar into fat cells. Insulin itself is the reason that arteries get clogged, why your appetite increases and why the number of fat cells being produced in your body increases. So how to combat this phenomena?

Doing sit-ups or crunches does help you get a flat stomach, but it's not necessarily the best solution when it comes to trimming that belly in an attempt to manufacture that flat stomach. As was said with spot exercising, it's proven to be non-effective in losing weight and getting rid of love handles. That being said, the only way you truly can trim that gut and lose those love handles is by sticking to a healthy diet and shedding some pounds around your entire body. That's definitely not to say don't exercise. Combining a healthy diet and exercising regularly will keep those pounds away forever. There are several ways of doing this and you can find them all around this site. Whether you choose to swim, jog or hit the gym, these are all perfectly good ways of getting rid of that excess fat, toning your abs, and staying healthy through exercise.  

Having excess fat on your body can also lead to a horde of other problems besides looking obese. Being overweight can contribute to a plethora of problems in the human body including:

  • Heart Attacks caused by the clogging of blood passageways
  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure

Those are just a few. So, what exercises are great for burning off that belly? Try these things and you will have a flat stomach in no time.
